Located in the Kootenay Rockies region of British Columbia, the small community of Donald lies along the Columbia River, a vast river system with an abundance of water activities from fishing to rafting. The Canadian Rockies surround you with awesome views and lots pf photographic memories to take home.
Situated close to Marl Creek Provincial Park visitors can enjoy hiking and cycling along the scenic trails. Glacier National Park lies to the west and offers an abundance of outdoor activities. South of Donald is Kicking Horse Resort – take a gondola ride over the magnificent Purcell Mountains. Visit the Northern Lights Wolf Centre – a conservation centre that offers Interpretive Tours or you can Walk With the Wolves.
The community of Donald is just 28 km (17 mi) northwest of Golden along Highway 1.
Donald was once a growing community when there were plans for the Canada Pacific Railway to travel through the town. Plans changed and the railway went through Revelstoke instead, and the town shrank down again. Now the community is primarily a tourism location, due to its remote, untapped, natural beauty.
