Lantzville
Lantzville is a picturesque seaside community, located 11 km (7 mi) north of Nanaimo off the Island Highway 19. Lantzville began as a coal mining settlement in the 1800s and was named after Harry Lantz, an American who invested in a coalmine in nearby Nanoose. When the mines eventually closed, the waterfront miners' shacks were rented out to city residents in search of a quiet cabin on the beach. Today visitors come for the mild climate, shoreline and vistas of the British Columbia mainland. |
