Taking the Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park route from Mount Currie
to Lillooet takes you past numerous lakes and is a favourite highway
for the avid fisher. The route takes the visitor to the town of D’Arcy,
which houses the Anderson Lake fish hatchery.
Attractions/Activities
- Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park is nestled in the Coast Mountains.
Located 22 km West of D’Arcy. The park protects important
habitat for a variety of wildlife, including spotted owls, mountain
goats, black bears and grizzly bears. Old growth forests, subalpine
and alpine environments, large and small lakes all contribute to
the park's diversity.
- Anderson Lake fish hatchery.The hatchery proves that adult sockeye
salmon are the most avid visitors to the region.
